Why are so many Americans ignorant and Ophidiophobic? Why do they judge ALL snakes by the few poisonous ones?

it is normal the people to fear of snakes because of the poisonous ones - at least not everyone is trained to recognize them and to protect oneself and own family from the poisonous - not everyone is an expert like Steve Irwin
